Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. (Aug. 30) - In their second match of the Southern Mississippi Invitational, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (11-25,21-25, 15-25) to Nicholls State, here Saturday afternoon Reed Green Gymnasium.
UAPB (0-2) was led by
Ayanna Parker as she garnered a team high six kills, followed by Kayla Dowedell and
Whitney Harris with five kills each to lead the Lady Lions.
Jordan Foyer led the Lady Lions in assists with 21, while
Courtney Brand finished with 19 digs.
NSU(2-0) was paced by Kaci Eaton with a team high nine kills, followed by Kayla Burling with eight and Mikayla Miller with seven. Ainsley Marroccoli led the NSU in assists with 39; while Kalynn Egea recorded a team high 19 digs.
In the first set, UAPB fell to Nicholls State 25-11.
In the second set the Lady Lions jumped out to a 4-1 lead as they took advantage of a service ace by
Jordan Foyer, kill by Parker and a pair of attack errors by NSU.
NSU tied the set at 7-7 as they went on a 6-3 run capped off by a kill by Miller. The Colonels extended their lead to 15-11 on an UAPB service error, capping an 8-4 run by NSU.
UAPB tied the set at 15-15 as they reeled off three straight points on kills by
Valiyah Barnes (1) and Dowdell (2).
Nicholls State made the score 20-16 in their favor as they went a 5-1 run, capped off by a Miller.
The Lady Lions cut the Colonels' lead to 23-20 on a pair of attack errors and a service errors committed by the Lady Lions as NSU went on to win the set 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
NSU handed UAPB a 25-15 loss in the third set to win the match 3-0.
