Baseball: No. 16 Ole Miss downs Golden Lions

Box Score OXFORD, Miss. (April 2)  - The University of Mississippi handed the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Baseball Team their third straight loss with an 11-1 win over the Golden Lions, here Tuesday afternoon at Swayze Field.
 
UAPB (8-20) recorded two hits in the contest with Isias Alcantar going two-for-three from the plate to lead the Golden Lions.
 
UM (22-8) tallied a team high 11 hits in the contest as the Rebels had three player to go a perfect two-for-two from the plate.
 
Evan Anderson (1-0) made his eight appearance on the mound for the Rebels as he picked up his first win of the season.  He pitched three and two-third scoreless innings, allowing one hits and striking out one.  Also making appearance on the mound for Ole Miss was Jacob Waguespack and he went one and one-third inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.  Scott Ashford pitched one inning and recorded one strike out. Preston Tarkington also pitched one inning and striking out one.  In addition, both Austin Blunt and Hawtin Buchanan pitched one inning each for Ole Miss with Blunt striking out one and Buchanan striking out two.
 
UAPB had eight pitchers to take the hill for the Golden Lions in the contest with Kyle Schwartz (0-1) receiving the loss as he pitched one inning, allowing three hits, two earned run.  In relief, Didier Landry pitched two inning, allowing four hits and three earned runs, followed Samuel Olson, who toed the mound for one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and one earned runs.  Redmond Floyd tossed one-third of an inning for Golden Lions, giving up two earned runs and two hits.  Also making appearances for UAPB was Skyler Henson, Dixon Marble, Humberto Zavala and Kevin Walsh.
 
Ole Miss would take an 8-0 lead into the top of the fifth inning.
 
The Golden Lions would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning  as Mike Wieland scored on a Rashawn Tillman's fielder's choice, making the score 8-1 in favor of the Rebels.
 
Ole Miss in their half of the fifth, the Rebels would plate three more runs for the 11-1 finale.
