Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas (March 25) - The University of Arkansas-Pine Baseball Team gave No. 24 Texas Tech as the Red Raiders held on for a 2-0 win in game one and a 5-1, here Tuesday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park.
In the first contest, UAPB stranded four runners, whereas TTU left nine base runners stranded.
UAPB (7-16) recorded one hit in the contest with
Jose Hernandez breaking up the Red Raider no-hitter in the top of the sixth inning with a single through the right side.
TTU (20-7) finished the contest with seven hits as three Red Raiders finished with two hits each in Bryant Burleson, Jake Barrios and Eric Gutierrez.
Matt Withrow (3-1) received the win for TTU as he pitched seven inning, allowing one hit, and striking out 10 in 25 batters he faced, while Dalton Brown(1) picked up his first save of the season as he pitched two innings of relief, striking out three in the six batters he faced.
Jim Ploeger (2-2) received the loss for UAPB as he pitched two and two-third innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and striking out two in the 13 batters he faced.
Burelson scored TTU's first run of the game as he scored on a Barrios single to center field in the bottom of the third inning, giving the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.
TTU scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning as Eric Gutierrez singled up the middle scoring Tyler Floyd for the 2-0 finale.
In game two TTU tallied 10 hits, while UAPB garnered three hits.
UAPB had three batters to finish with one hit each to lead the Golden Lions, while Adam Kirsch recorded two hits to lead TTU.
Dylan Dusek (3-0) picked up the win for the Red Raiders as he pitched seven inning, allowing three hits and striking out seven in the 24 batters he faced.
Samuel Olson (1-2) received the loss for the Golden Lions as he pitched two and two-third innings allowing three hits, one earned run and striking out three in the 12 batters he faced.
Kyle Schwartz, the UAPB starter pitched two innings, allowing two hits and striking out two in his appearance on the mound.
Kirsch gave TTU a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as he scored on Stephen Smith single up the middle to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.
TTU put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning as Kirsch double to left field scoring Gutierrez, followed by a Ritchie single through the left side scoring Kirsch, giving the Red Raiders a 3-0 lead.
The Red Raiders added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning as Burleson scored on a UAPB pitcher's balk, followed by a Kirsch double to right field scoring Barrios, making the score 5-0 in favor of TTU.
UAPB got on the board in the top of the ninth inning as Bruckshaw scored on a Davis ground out to second base, for the 5-1 finale.
