Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 19) - The University of Arkansas-Pine bluff Baseball Team dropped their second straight contest as the University of Central Arkansas defeated the Golden Lions, 13-1 here Wednesday night at Taylor Field.

UAPB(7-13) finished the contest with four hits with Jerimiah Figueroa leading the team with two hits in three at-bats, while UCA (11-8) garnered a game high 10 hits with Wesley Hover going three for five, scoring one run and driving in six runs to lead the Bears.

Jon Ran (1-0) picked up the win for the Bears as he pitched five innings in relief, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out two in the 17 batters he faced, while Brandon Schmidt, the UCA starter went two innings, allowing one hits, one earned run and striking out one in the 14 batters he faced.

Felix Baez (0-1) received the loss for the Golden Lions as he pitched three innings, allowing four hits, five earned runs and striking out two in the 17 batters he faced.

UCA took the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first as both Chris Townsend and Doug Votolato scored on a Hoover single up the middle.

The Bears increased their lead in the top of second inning as they plated four runs in the inning to go ahead 6-0 over the Golden Lions.
UAPB picked up their only run in the contest on a Rashawn Tillman sacrifice fly to center field scoring Mike Wieland, in the bottom of the second inning, cutting UCA's lead to 6-1.

UCA would go on to win the contest 13-1 as the Bears scored three runs in the top of the fourth and four runs in the top of the fifth inning.

The Golden Lions will return to action this weekend as they will host West Alabama in a three-game series, beginning on Friday, March 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Baseball/Softball Little League Complex.
