Baseball: Arkansas-Little Rock Spears Golden Lions, 9-3

Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 12) - The University of Arkansas-Little Rock snapped the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Baseball Team's three-game win streak with a 9-3 win over the Golden Lions, here Wednesday night at Gary Hogan Field.

UAPB (4-11) finished the contest with three hits as three Golden Lions finished one hit each in Rashawn Tillman, Andre Davis and Mitch Bruckshaw.

UALR (9-5) recorded game high 13 hits in the contest as Austin Pfeiffer went three-for-four from the plate to lead the Trojans.

Ethan Schlechte (3-1) picked up the win for the Trojans as he pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two walks and striking out five in the 11 batters he faced, while Dixon Marble (0-1) took the loss for the Golden Lions as he pitched two and one-third innings, allowing nine hits, five earned runs and allowing one walk in the 17 batters he faced.

UALR would plate three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead as Pfeiffer doubled to left field scoring Ben Crumpton and then Pfeiffer would score on a Tanner Rockwell double down the left field line. The Rockwell would score on a Bryson Thionnet double to left center.
The Trojans increase their lead to 6-0 as UALR plated two runs in the bottom of the third and a run in the bottom of the fourth.

A Tillman single up the middle would score both Vladimir Gomez and Jerimiah Figueroa, cutting the Trojans' lead to 6-2 in top of the fifth inning.

UAPB would tack on another run in the top of the seventh on a Bruckshaw single down the right field line scoring Cassidy in the top of the seventh, cutting UALR's lead to 6-3.

UALR would score three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for the 9-3 win as Rockwell doubled to left cent scoring both Pfeiffer and Crumpton, followed by a Thionnet fielder's choice scoring Martin.

UAPB will return to action on Saturday, March 15 against Grambling State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division doubleheader at the Torii Hunter Little League Softball/ Baseball Complex in a 12 p.m. start.
