UAPB BATTLES IOWA STATE TOUGH IN 82-56 LOSS

AMES, Iowa (Dec. 14) - It was the tell of two halves as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff started fast in the first half and was slowed down in the second half as Iowa State defeated the Lady Lions, 82-56 here Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Coliseum.
 
UAPB scored the first four points of the half on a pair of baskets by Ajia Richardson and Mollie Campbell, giving the Lady Lions a 4-0 lead with 18:53 to go in the first.
 
The Lady Lions extended their lead to 10-4 on a Richardson basket with 14:00 left in the first.
 
ISU tied the contest at 12-12 on a Bryanna Ferstrom basket with 10:36 left in the half, capping an 8-2 run by the Cyclones.
 
The Cyclones extended their lead to 26-15 on a Seanna Johnson with 4:19 to go capping 14-3 run by ISU.
 
UAPB closes out the first half with a 12-9 run as they went into the break trailing ISU, 35-27.
 
The Lady Lions finished the first half shooting 41.4 percent (10-of-24), while the Cyclones shot 37.5 percent (12-of-32).
 
In the second half, ISU   increased their lead to 42-32 on a Brynn Williamson three pointer with 17:06 left in the game as the Cyclones outscored the Lady Lions 47-29 to go on to win the contest  82-56.
 
The Lady Lions finished the contest shooting 37.0 percent (20-of-54), while the Cyclones shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59).
 
UAPB held the rebounding margin over ISU, 42-39.
 
The Lady Lions (2-6) were paced by both Shami Goodman and Jazmyne Victorian with Goodman scoring 13 points and Jazmyne Victorian, who also scored 13 points in the contest and pulled down 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double in the contest.
ISU (6-2) had four Cyclones to score in the double-figures with Johnson scoring a game high 18 points, followed by Nicole Blaskowsky with 17, Brynn Willamson added 13 and Nikki Moody pumped in 12.  Williamson led the team on the boards with eight boards.
 
UAPB will return to action on Wednesday, December 17 as they will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on the University of Alabama at Foster Auditorium in an 11 a.m. start.
