HOUSTON (Nov. 1) - The University of Arkansas finished their Texas swing 1-1 as they dropped a 3-0 (22-25, 14-25, 15-25) decision to Texas Southern here Saturday morning at the TSU Health and Physical Education Complex.
UAPB (8-17, 4-2) had three Lady Lions to finish with five kills each in
Ashlie Jones,
Ayanna Parker and
Kayla Dowdell.Â
Jordan Foyer led the team in assists with 20, while
Courtney Billups led the Lady Lions in digs with 13.
TSU (10-15, 6-0) was paced by both Audriana Carson and Kali Fluke as they both finished with 13 kill apiece. Sarah Wooton led the team in assists, while Ashle Markey led the team in digs with 17.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 10-4 lead to begin the first set.
But UAPB battled back to tie the set at 19-19 with a 15-9 run, capped off by a kill by Parker.
A kill by TSU's Markey, gave the Lady Tigers a 22-20 lead. Then a Foyer kill cut the Lady Tigers' lead to 22-21.Â
TSU finished the set with a 3-1 lead to win the set 25-22, giving them a 1-0 lead in the match.
In the second set, TSU jumped out to a 10-5 lead on an UAPB attack error.Â
UAPB tied the set at 11-11 on TSU attack error, capping a 6-1 run by the Lady Lions.
TSU ended the set with a 14-3 run to win the set and to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 In the third set, UAPB tied TSU on three different occasions at 7-7, 11-11 and 13-13 as the Lady Tigers went to win the set 25-15 for the 3-0 win in the match.
UAPB will return to action on Tuesday, November 4 against Harding University in a 7 p.m. start at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
