Box Score Pine Bluff, Ark. - Ashlie Jones recorded 19 kills  as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team lost to Western Division rival Texas Southern Saturday afternoon in the H.O. Clemmons Arena, 3-1(25-23, 25-27, 26-24, and 25-20). 

In addition to landing 20 kills for UAPB, Jones also tallied six digs.  Lauren Corby added eight kills, while Ayanna Parker got close to another double-double with seven kills and eight digs.

Courtney Brand led the Lady Lions with 17 digs and one ace and Whitney Harris contributed four kills and led the match with four blocks.

Texas Southern's Shannon Robyn recorded a match high 22 kills, while Kali Fluke had 14 kills. Sarah Wooten added 25 assist and Ashle Markey had a match-leading 21 digs.

"This was a heartbreaker. It was very close in three of the sets," UAPB Head Coach Kyetta May said.

All four sets combined had 37 ties and 16 lead changes. Only once in the fourth set Texas Southern have a four-point lead (8-4), before UAPB battled back to tie the game (16-16) as the Lady Tigers pulled away for the win (25-20).

The Lady Lions will travel to Nashville, TN to take on Tennessee St. Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 11a.m.
