Women's Basketball: Lady Tigers Freezes Lady Lions Offense, In Victory 75-51

Box Score Houston, TX. – The Lady Lions struggled to get into rhythm in Monday's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game against Texas Southern Lady Tigers, falling 75-51 in the HPE Arena.

The Lady Tigers opened the contest with a 4-0 run, capped by a jumper from Sahara Williams. UAPB responded with points from Mollie Campbell and Cassidy Wright to tie the game 4-4 with 16:38 to play.

UAPB stayed within four points with a jumper Christina Lasane in the 7:14mark, before the Lady Tigers went on a 19-7 run to head into the locker room with a 45-21 advantage.

The Lady Lions were led by senior Christina Lasane who had 14 points in the contest. Texas Southern Jazzmin Parker led the field with 26 points. Sidney Brianna, Sahara Williams both had 25 points apiece followed by Alexus Johnson with 21 points.

In the second half the Lady Lions made some adjustments on defense forcing the Lady Tigers to commit 13 turnovers for the game.

UAPB shot 32.8 percent from the field, hitting 19-of-58 offerings. Lady Tigers managed a 50.8 clip from the floor, shooting 30-of-59. UAPB only got 16 points from the bench, compared to Texas Southern 44.


The Lady Lions will return home to play February 1, 2014 to host Grambling State Lady Tigers 5:00 p.m. at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
