PINE BLUFF -- In probably one of their strongest matches of the season, the Lady Lions rolled past Alcorn State on Tuesday night 25-14, 25-13, 25-17. UAPB improvdd to 5-16 with the win, while Alcorn remained winless at 0-8.

Whitney Harris and Audrey Sherles each had nine kills to lead UAPB. Sherles also had three blocks and an ace, while Harris also added a block. Ashlie Jones tallied eight kills. Meanwhile, Ashley Velasquez had 19 assists to go with six kills, while reigning SWAC Setter of the Week Jordan Foyer finished the match with 13 asssists.

As a team, the Lady Lions were very efficient on the attack, hitting .383 for the match. UAPB outhit Alcorn State 45-15, while only committing 14 errors in 81 attempts. The Lady Lions also had nine aces.

The Lady Lions will get some much-needed time off before their next match, when they host Texas Southern on Friday, Oct. 4.
