CLINTON, Miss. -- The UAPB Men's and Women's cross country teams opened the 2013 season on Saturday at the 1st Annual Martin Epps Cross Country Classic. Both teams finished seventh in their respective races.

For the men's team, Matthew Agard was the top finisher for UAPB in the 8K crossing the line seventh with a time of 28.08.48. Jacob Orosco was next on the Golden Lions roster, finishing 26th at 30:51.01. Justin Cooper was 32nd (31:57.99), while William David came in 42nd (34:01.23) and Andrew Bingham 43rd at 34:12.10.

In the women's 5K,, Sharoya Simmons led the Lady Lions, finishing 20th with a time of 22:42.39. Sabartina Rojas and Crystal Christopher finished 31st and 32nd with times of 24:52.16 and 25:16.11 respectively. Stephanie Jerson was the fourth UAPB finisher in 37th place and a time of 26:21.38 and Sydnee Worlds rounded out the Lady Lion pack in 42nd place at 26:55.82.

On Saturday, the UAPB cross country teams will be in Rust, La. for the Louisiana Tech Mook 4 XC Invitational for their second meet of the season.
