Pine Bluff, Ark- Under cloudy skies and a few rain drops the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions wrapped their mid-week series against the Thoroughbreds of Murray State.
The Golden Lions got on the board first in their half of the first inning when
Tyler Oertle crossed home plate off a
Kirby Campbell single. UAPB would go scoreless for the next four frames. Murray State answered back with two runs of their own in the top half of the third, for a 2-1 score.
The Thoroughbreds plated three more runs in the top of the sixth for a 5-1 lead. UAPB chipped away at that lead in the bottom half with two runs of their own, to make the score board read 5-3. MSU would score once more in the seventh inning for today's final 6-3.
The Golden Lions outhit the Thoroughbreds 8-5, but two costly errors proved to be too costly to comeback from. Campbell did a job at the plate going 2-for-4, one run and one RBI.
UAPB will head to Prairie View A&M University this weekend for a SWAC western division weekend series that will have major tournament implications as the Golden Lions are striving for the best seeding possible.
