Pine Bluff, Ark. - On Tuesday in SWAC baseball action, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions hosted the Braves of Alcorn State University at the Torri Hunter Baseball Complex. The Golden Lions closed out the home and home series with a 13-1 victory.
Mike Ludwig was 2-for-2 at the plate for UAPB, with two RBI's and two runs scored. Senior
Stanten Jones got the nod of the hill, going a strong five innings only giving up one run on three hits, while striking out five.
The Golden Lions registered their first run of the game when Isais Alcantar singled to bring in
Cody De Mera, who reached on a walk in UAPB's half of the third inning. That seemed to spark the Golden Lions offense as the flood gates would open and UAPB would posts runs in the every inning afterwards.
The scoring barrage was capped off by Ludwig's two run homerun in the bottom eighth for today's final. Third basemen Patrick Philips did a job at the plate for the Golden Lions going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kirby Campbell also had a good day swinging the stick as he accounted for two hits on three appearances, with one run scored.

Carlos James. “Today's effort let me know that they are ready for the weekend.”
Zach Muenster suffered the loss for the Braves giving up seven runs in two innings of work.
The Golden Lions will be back on the diamond this weekend as they host the Tigers of Texas Southern University for a SWAC western division weekend series. Saturday first pitch of a double header is set for 12 PM. Sunday will be Senior Day, as the seniors members of the Golden Lions baseball team will be honored for their valiant efforts throughout their UAPB baseball careers.
