Greenville, Miss. – On Tuesday in SWAC baseball, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff raced to a 24-5 victory in seven innings over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday at Legion Field.
The Golden Lions finished with 18 hits, scoring seven runs in the first and six more runs in the fourth, before registering the final tally with another seven runs in the sixth.
Patrick Phillips led the Golden Lions with five RBI's, four runs scored, going 1-for-4 at the plate with a three-RBI triple in the first. His at bat gave the UAPB a 6-0 lead.
Dylan Calhoun was 3-for-5, with two RBI's, and three runs scored.
Cody De Mera went 2-for-5 and finished with four RBI's and two runs scored; while
Mike Wieland scored five runs, hitting 2-for-5, with three RBI's, notching two doubles for the game.
Landry Didier picked up the win giving up four runs, two earned in 1.1 innings on the mound.
Six pitchers saw action for Mississippi Valley State University, with Trey Lacy suffering the loss.
The Golden Lions, who hold a share of first place in the SWAC's western division standings with Texas Southern, will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face the Bulldogs of Samford University in three game weekend series. The Golden Lions will return home on April 23
rd to host the Braves of Alcorn State University.
