Pine Bluff, Ark- On a beautiful day for baseball the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions hosted the Grambling State University Tigers in a SWAC western division double header, as a part of a weekend series.
UAPB got on the scoreboard first when
Cody De Mera, who reached base on a single, came around on an
Isias Alcantar single. GSU would answer back in their half of the fourth inning with two runs on two hits. But the Golden Lions would not be outdone rallying back for three runs of their own.
After GSU pitcher Brock Baker hit three consecutive Golden Lion batters, UAPB's
Warren Stehn singled to bring home
Mike Wieland. UAPB's very next batter with the bases still loaded, Dylan Hysmith would be the fourth hit batsman of the inning resulting in another run crossing the plate, as Alcantar trotted home.
Patrick Phillips walked in the next at bat for the Golden Lions that brought home
Kirby Campbell.
The Golden Lions scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings to push the score to 6-2. GSU would answer back with two runs of their own in the top half of the ninth inning, bringing the score to its final, 6-4.
Golden Lions pitcher
Jim Ploeger got the win went eight and two thirds innings; striking out eight, while only giving up five hits. Tiger's pitcher Brock Baker suffered the loss.
In game two, the Golden Lions couldn't get going offensively only managing three hits, as the Tigers shut-out the Golden Lions 3-0.
Jaron Gold suffered the loss for the Golden Lions putting in seven innings of work.

rd Annual Knock Your Socks off Weekend, both clubs will play a wrap-up game tomorrow at the Torri Hunter Baseball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
