Houston, Tex- On Saturday in SWAC western division baseball action, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions visited the Tigers of Texas Southern University, on the first day of a three game weekend series.

In game one, Golden Lions pitcher Jim Ploeger got the complete game victory, as UAPB defeated TSU 5-1. Ploeger, while facing 35 batters over nine innings, struck out 14 and only gave up six hits. The Golden Lions registered twelve hits, with Cody De Mara leading the way at the plate going 4-for- 5 and driving in two runs.  Jacob Whitney also drove two runs to help the Golden Lions efforts in game one.

In the second half of the double header, The Golden Lions didn't fare as well as game one. The Tigers would take game two 8-3. Despite getting ten hits, the Golden Lions would leave 15 on base and commit four errors that would eventually turn into runs for TSU. Isias Alcantar would go 2-for-4 at the plate for the Golden Lions.

On Sunday, the Golden lions will wrap-up the weekend series with one nine inning game from McGregor Park. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
