Following Friday's result, the Golden Lions (2-1) responded with wins on Saturday and Sunday to take the "Opening Weekend" series versus North Dakota State (1-2).

On Saturday, JR/RHP Kyle Schwartz picked up his first Division 1 win throwing 6 innings and not allowing a run to cross the plate. Offensively, the Golden Lions scored 5 runs while the bullpen held the Bison's bats in check the remaining three innings for the 5-1 victory.

On Sunday, those in attendance got to see a hard fought, 13 inning affair in which UAPB won by a score of 5-4. JR/LHP Jim Ploeger threw 7 inning allowing only two runs, but the with the score 4-2 in favor of the Golden Lions, North Dakota State answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 4-4. JR/RHP Grant Glass would throw two shutout innings in the ninth and tenth before handing the ball over to JR/RHP Redmond Floyd.

Floyd would eventually pick-up the win with three shutout innings in relief. In the bottom of the 13th, JR Dwayne Hysmith would reach base on a hit-by-pitch followed by a base-on-balls drawn FR Dylan Calhoun. While JR Isias Alcantar would hit into a fielder's choice, Hysmith would score the game winning run an errant throw.

With the series win, the Golden Lions travel to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the 14th ranked Sooners (4-0). Due to the weather forecast for Wednesday, the teams will be play a double-header on Tuesday with Game 1 scheduled for 3:00pm and Game 2 starting 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
