BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was one of several schools to recieved the four major 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference postseason football awards in conducted by the league head coaches and sports information directors. The conference made the announcement on Friday prior to the 2013 Toyota SWAC Fotball Championship on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff had only one player named to the 2013 All SWAC team. Senior linebacker
Jer-ryan Harris 6'2, 240 was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Year.
Harris anchored UAPB's defense finishing atop the SWAC in tackles with 107 (56 solo). He currently sits sixth in the FCS. To close out the season, he gathered three tackles for loss (7 yards), one quarterback hurry, and a fumble recovery return for a touchdown.
This is Harris second consecutive year and third time out of four seasons on being selected to make the All- SWAC team. In 2010 he was named All-SWAC first team and Freshman of the Year, 2012 he was named All-SWAC second team and 2013 he was named Defensive SWAC Player of the Year.
