Box Score Memphis, TN.- Despite a season-high 10 points from Junior Forward
Jazmyne Victorian, the short-handed University of Arkansas Pine Bluff women's basketball team could not overcome American Athletic Conference Memphis Tigers (7-5) in a 91-45 win over the Lady Lions at the Elma Roane Field house Friday Night.
She was the only player for UAPB to score in double digits in the contest. The Lions were without one of their post player
Mollie Campbell which leads the team in blocks.
Just nine players saw actions for the Lady Lions Friday night against Memphis.
Ariel Hearn led four Memphis players in double figures with 17 points. Hearn, who was 6-for-13 from the field, 3-for-6 from the three point line and 2-for-2 from the charity stripes, Mooriah Rowser followed with 16 points, Brei Wilder-Cochran with 13 points and Brandi Goodman chipped in 10 points for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Lions (1-8) jumped on the board first with a basket from
Jazmyne Victorian in the first half but Memphis went on a 12-2 run and held the lead the whole game. The fact the Lady Lions didn't have much depth in the inside, the team was out-rebounded 51-31 and outscored in the paint 42-22 which played a big difference in the game.
Jazmyne Victorian led UAPB with 10 points,
Marion Thompson bringing in nine points pulling down nine boards, with
Destiny Ham and
Erin Campbell followed with six points.
Overall for the game UAPB was 17-for-58 from the field (29.3%), including 11-for-16 from the free throw line (68.8%). Memphis was 33-for-73 (45.2%) from the field, 6-for-16 (37.5%) from behind the arch.
The Lady Lions will break for the Christmas holidays and will be back in action December 29, 2013 against Arizona Wildcats in Tucson, AZ. at 1:00pm.
