Women's Basketball: Second Half Rally Falls Short Against No. 11 Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. – The UAPB Lady Lions outscored 11th-ranked Nebraska in the second half, but came up short 78-55 on Thursday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. UAPB fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Cornhuskers improved to 4-0.

The Lady Lions had three players in double figures, led by Jazmyne Victorian who finished with a season-high 13 points, hitting 6-of-6 from the field. Meanwhile, Cassidy Wright added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers and Carlisha Walker finished with 10 points.

UAPB got off to a slow start against the Huskers, down 38-7 in the first 14 minutes of the game. Meanwhile, the Huskers started the first half hot from the field shooting 17-for-29 for 58%. The Lady Lions outscored the Huskers 38-36 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to dig out of the huge hole.

The Huskers were led by All-American Jordan Hooper with 23 points. She was 9-for-13 from the field, 3-for-6 from behind the arc and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.

As a team the Lady Lions shot 24-of-56 from the field, with a pair of 3-pointers, and 5-of-8 from the free throw line.
