PRAIRIE VIEW -- The Lady Lions slipped into a third place tie with Southern after a 3-1 loss to Prairie view on Thursday night. Meanwhile, PVAM slipped past UAPB into second place at 4-3. The Lady Panthers improved to 10-23 overall, while the Lady Lions fell to 10-20 and 3-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Senior Rachel Hornbuckle led UAPB with nine kills, while Audrey Sherles finished with seven. Jordan Foyer had a double-double tallying 15 assists and 10 digs, while Courtney Brand had 13 digs.

Lenicia Tyson led PVAM with 17 kills, while Candyce Alexander had 16 kills and 13 digs. Kelsey Espinosa and Monecia Preston also had double-doubles. Espinosa had 39 assists and 12 digs, while Preston had 12 assists and 14 digs. Lakeisha Allen also had double-digit digs with 17.

The night began badly for the Lady Lions. PVAM rolled out of the gates and hammers UAPB 25-9 in the opening set. The Lady Lions rebounded to take the second set 25-23, but momentum didn't last long. The Lady Lions went flat again and PVAM cruised in the final two sets 25-16 and 25-12.

The Lady Lions will have to rebound quickly as they face Western Division leader Texas Southern on Friday night in Houston.
