PINE BLUFF -- The Lady Lions came up short in their big to even their record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, losing to Texas Southern 3-1 on Friday night. UAPB fell to 5-17 and 0-2 in the SWAC, while TSU improved to 6-8 and 2-0.

Whitney Harris had 12 kills and Ashlie Jones added 11 to lead the Lady Lions. Jordan Foyer added 30 assists, while Courtney Brand tallied 12 digs.

Mona Reed and Robyn Shannon paced TSU with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Sarah Wooten finished with 21 assists and Jyra Churchill had 16 assists. Veronica Azubuike led on defense with 11 digs. She also had eigtht kills.

UAPB hopes to rebound on Saturday when they travel to Itta Bena, Miss. to face Mississippi Valley State.
