JONESBORO, Ark. -- A spirited effort was not enough for the Lady Lions in a 3-0 loss at Arkansas State. The loss dropped UAPB to 8-19.

In the opening set, the Lady Lions played ASU tough before coming up short at the end 25-23. In the second set, UAPB led 12-11, but the home team outscored the Lady Lions 14-6 to win 25-17. The Lady Lions ran out of gas in the final set and ASU cruised to a 25-12 win to close out the match.

Ashlie Jones led UAPB with 10 kills and nine digs. Jordan Foyer added 26 assists and 13 digs, while Courtney Brand tallied 12 digs.

The Lady Lions return home Thursday night for a non-conference match against Henderson State. It will be a rematch of a contest two weeks ago when HSU outlasted UAPB 3-2 in Arkadelphia. Game time is 7 p.m.
