Kilbert Notches First Victory

Box Score Pine Bluff, AR- First year head coach Nate Kilbert believes in playing home games early to boost the confidence of his players; and with a 67-48 victory over Philander Smith the Lady Lions have done just that.

With all five starters returning form a 1-29 team, the 2012-2013 version of the Lady Lions basketball team have already matched their win total from a year ago, only two games into the season.

Tonight, the Lady Lions were led by senior forward Jenise Gentry who had 16 points on eight of ten shooting with seven rebounds. The Lady Lions got a strong performance from two freshmen, Cassidy Wright with 14 points and Aubre Mitchell with 10 points, respectively. Mitchell was also led the Lady Lions with eight rebounds.

"I thought the players played hard tonight; especially the two freshmen, Aubre and Cassidy. Gentry, our senior post player has the potential to be a double- double player for this program, and that's what we are going to need to compete in our conference," said Kilbert. "We hope to carry the momentum of tonight's victory to our SEC opponent Alabama on Saturday. Our goal is to improve each game."

Next on tap for the Lady Lions are a pair of road games in Alabama with stops in Tuscaloosa, against Alabama, and Birmingham, when the Lady Lions take on UAB.

The Lady Lions will return home on December 4th, when they host LeMoyne-Owen College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
