PINE BLUFF, Ark.- Golden Lions Head Coach
Carlos James announced today that right-handed pitcher Kyle Schwartz signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Schwartz is a sophomore from Herkimer County Community College in Herkimer, New York, and the fourth signee of the 2012-2013 class.
“I am very excited that Kyle chose to bring his leadership, enthusiasm, competitive-spirit, and talent to Pine Bluff," shared Coach James. "As a captain and one of Coach Rathbun's top arms at Herkimer, he is a great fit for our future program."
A native of Patchugue, New York, Schwartz helped lead the Generals to the 2011 NJCAA DIII Region 3 Tournament where he was 4-1 with a 3.45 ERA and three complete games. Prior to HCCC, he was the team leader in wins and saves plus games pitched and innings pitched as a senior at Patchugue-Medford High School under the direction of Anthony Frascogna.
"When I visited UAPB, I was very impressed with the baseball program and facilities," said Schwartz. "I look forward to advancing in my major of accounting and getting to work in helping UAPB win a SWAC championship."
