The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff head coach Chelsey Lucas announced the hiring of assistant coach/recruiting coordinator LaMonica Peacock to the Lady Lions volleyball staff.
Peacock joins UAPB staff after serving two years as an assistant coach and Interim Head Coach at Southwestern College. During her stint at Southwestern, Peacock played a significant role in recruiting and assisting with team schedules and budgets. She was in charge of developing and coordinating block and floor defense, solidifying serve receive, getting passer passing to their strengths, coordinating team conditioning drills, workouts, managing study hall, and team social media platforms. She also spearheaded clinics and developing scouting reports for opponents.
As a defensive specialist, Peacock helped guided Emily White to become the school's first Regional and KCAC Conference Defensive Player of the Year. White was also named Defensive Player of the Week four times during the season under Peacock's guidance. In her two years at Southwestern, she helped lead the program to their first 20 win season since 1992 and broke the school's longest winning streak with 13 in 2020.
Under her guidance, the Southwestern volleyball program was crown conference champions for the Community Character Award. She also had a student-athlete to finished second in the nation in NAIA in digs, middle hitter ranked second in the KCAC Conference in hitting percentage, and the program finished strong in the classroom with a cumulative team GPA of 3.3.
Peacock, who has a strong background in developing players on and off the court, has been a head coach for four years between Club and High-Performance programs.
In volleyball at Eastfield junior college, Peacock captured her first conference tournament and helped her team to the national tournament, finishing the season ranked fourth in the conference in blocks. Peacock went on to letterman in two consecutive years at Northwestern Oklahoma St. Peacock also served as the program's SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) representative.
Peacock earned her bachelor's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma St. in Sports Science in 2018 and a master's degree in Sports Recreational and Management from Southwestern College in 2020.
