Coach Monroe was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. He attended Eastside High School, where he was a four-sport athlete, earning varsity letters in football, wrestling, weightlifting, and track. After high school, Coach Monroe was invited to wrestle at the college level at Arkansas Baptist College, where he earned his associate's degree. He then transferred to the University of Central Arkansas, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in exercise science.
Monroe has been associated with numerous sporting organizations and college institutions, such as the Special Olympics, Paris Speed School, and Elite Performance. These institutions include Arkansas Baptist College, the University of South Florida, Central Baptist College, the University of Central Arkansas, and now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Coach Monroe's career in strength and conditioning is approaching a decade, during which he has achieved significant milestones. Since 2015, he has been instrumental in producing 5 NFL professionals, 5 national qualifiers, securing 3 conference titles, and contributing to 2 bowl game wins. His work has also led to the recognition of 10 all-Americans, 20-plus athletes of the week, and 5 freshmen of the year from different programs. All this was accomplished while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree and working towards his National Strength and Conditioning Certification.
