Wilkerson enters his second year with the Golden Lions after spending the last two seasons with Buffalo as the assistant wide receiver coach in 2021 and running backs quality control coach in 2020 with the Bulls.
Wilkerson saw the Bulls clinch the 2020 Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division and the Camellia Bowl Championship during his time in Buffalo. Wilkerson also assisted Jarrett Patterson, who led the nation in rushing in six games with 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns, named second-team All-American by the Associated Press, MAC Offensive Player of the Year and named All-MAC First Team. Wilkerson running backs finished second in the NCAA in rushing offense (287.4 YPG/ 32 TD's)
Prior to his time at Buffalo, Wilkerson got his start at Buffalo St. as the assistant coach/quarterbacks coach in 2019.
Wilkerson went on to play professionally for three seasons 2016-19, spending two years in Germany with the Franken Knights and the Munich Cowboys, one year in Finland with the Seinajoki Crocodiles, and then state-side in the IFL for the Cedar Rapids River Kings in 2019.
A native of Buffalo, he earned his bachelor of business administration from Alfred State, where he also coached the quarterbacks for two seasons. He also served as a youth coach with the WNY QB Academy.
