GamblingStudent-athletes are prohibited from gambling or wagering on any sport that the NCAA sponsors (amateur, professional or otherwise). This ban also applies to pools or fantasy leagues in which an entry fee is required and there is an opportunity to win a prize or money.
For the purpose of this legislation, gambling includes the possibility of receiving or standing to lose anything of value. The NCAA regulation against gambling can result in the loss of a student-athlete's eligibility in all NCAA sports..Â
Student-athletes shall not knowingly:
- Provide information to individuals involved in organized gambling activities concerning intercollegiate athletics;
- Solicit a bet on any intercollegiate team;
- Accept a bet on any team representing the institution;
- Solicit or bet on any intercollegiate competition for any items (e.g., cash, shirt, dinner) that has tangible value;
- Participate in a gambling activity that involves intercollegiate athletics or professional athletics, through a bookmaker, a parlay card or any other method employed by organized gambling. (Bylaw 10.3)
