PINE BLUFF, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) proudly announces that Chris Robinson, Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics, has been appointed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to the Arkansas Governor's Council on the Arkansas Board and Commission Appointments.

Robinson joins a select group of leaders from across the state who will advise the Governor on policies and initiatives that promote physical activity, wellness, and healthy lifestyles for Arkansans of all ages. In this role, he will help shape statewide strategies that leverage sports and fitness to improve public health outcomes and expand access to quality athletic and recreational opportunities.

As Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics, Robinson oversees UAPB's comprehensive athletics program, guiding competitive success while emphasizing academic achievement, character development, and community service. Under his leadership, UAPB student‑athletes have expanded their impact through outreach, youth sports initiatives, and campus‑wide wellness and engagement efforts.

"I am honored to be appointed to the Governor's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition and to represent the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on this important platform," Robinson said. "Sports have the power to transform lives and communities. I look forward to working with leaders from across the state to promote healthier lifestyles, expand access to quality programming, and highlight the role that HBCUs and institutions like UAPB play in improving the well‑being of Arkansans."

In addition to his new role on the Governor's Council, Robinson serves on the Habitat for Humanity and Neighbor to Neighbor Committee and the FCS Athletics Directors Executive Committee, further demonstrating his commitment to service, collaboration, and community development. His appointment underscores UAPB's growing influence in key conversations surrounding health, wellness, and the future of intercollegiate athletics in Arkansas and beyond.

The Governor's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition is charged with encouraging participation in sports and physical activity, promoting nutrition education, and supporting programs that help Arkansans lead healthier, more active lives. Robinson's experience in athletic administration, program building, and student‑centered leadership will contribute directly to the Council's mission.
