PINE BLUFF, AR. — Quion Williams delivered in the clutch, knocking down the go-ahead bucket with 18 seconds remaining to lift the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team to an 84-82 victory over Prairie View A&M Panthers Saturday night inside H.O. Clemmons Arena.
The Golden Lions placed three players in double figures, led by Williams, who finished with 20 points, five assists, and four steals. Jaquan Scott added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Milhan Charles chipped in 17 points and two steals.
UAPB showcased strong ball movement throughout the contest, recording 17 assists on 31 made field goals. Trevon Payton directed the offense efficiently, dishing out a game-high seven assists.
Defensively, the Golden Lions applied consistent pressure, forcing 14 turnovers while committing just 10 of their own. Those takeaways translated into 15 points on the offensive end. Williams led the defensive effort with four steals.

UAPB set the tone early, opening the game on a 7-0 run to build momentum with 18:09 remaining in the first half. Though Prairie View A&M responded, the Golden Lions maintained control and carried a 45-40 lead into halftime. UAPB capitalized on nine Panther turnovers in the opening period, converting them into 12 points.
The second half featured multiple lead changes, but the Golden Lions remained poised. UAPB dominated the paint, scoring 20 of its 39 second-half points inside. With the score tied late, Williams rose to the occasion, knocking down the decisive shot with 18 seconds left to secure the victory.
