PINE BLUFF, Arkansas - The UAPB Golden Lions rallied to score two in the ninth inning and walked it off on a two-run single off the bat of freshman Carlos Rodriguez to pick up the 7-6 win over the Southern Jaguars Friday.
Jacob Ehling (4-5) started on the mound and picked up the win for UAPB. The right-hander went nine innings, giving up six runs, four earned, on nine hits, allowing two walks and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the first inning. UAPB plated two runs when Gavin Terry left the yard with Donavan Noble aboard.
The Jaguars expanded their lead to 6-2 before the Golden Lions offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. UAPB scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run homer from Jalyn Williams, which brought the score to 6-5 in favor of the Jaguars.
UAPB kept its deficit in check, holding Southern scoreless before scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to claim victory, walking it off
