MANHATTAN, KS --The UAPB men's basketball team got a 37-point performance from the bench, but fell 120-73 to the Kansas State Wildcats on the road Sunday.
The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Chop Paljor, who had 15 points. Dante Sawyer added 12 points from the bench and Kyle Brown chipped in as well with 10 points from the bench.
Sawyer pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the UAPB offense which grabbed 11 boards and turned them into six second chance points.
The UAPB defense caused its share of mistakes in Sunday's game, forcing 13 Kansas State turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 12 points on the offensive end of the floor. Klemen Vuga's three steals led the way individually for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 63-33 heading into halftime.
Kansas State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 79-39 advantage before UAPB went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Sawyer's layup, to shrink the deficit to 79-44 with 14:22 to go in the contest. Kansas State responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 120-73. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 24 of its 40 points in the lane.
