Golden Lions Won Their Second Consecutive Invitational Title
CARY, NC.- The two-time defending SWAC Champions continue to raise the bar as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's golf team wins the SAS HBCU Invitational in Cary, North Carolina, at the Prestonwood Country Club, sponsored by the PGA.

The Golden Lions enter the tournament playing against some of the best HBCUs in the country but stayed true to the assignments, winning the event by eight stokes, with a team score of +15 over par and rounds of (282, 291, 282- 855).  FAMU placed second +23- over par, Prairie View A&M in the 3rd +47- over par, North Carolina Central in 4th +51-over par, and Alabama St in 5th shooting +63- over par.

"I'm very proud of our team performance, said UAPB head coach Roger Totten. " Winning two consecutive invitational against some good programs, says a lot about our program. As we approached the season, the players know that the key to success is believing in the program. I'm proud of the way our team played, especially Jonathon, who comes from a strong background from golf in his family, but played with confidence all throughout the tournament. 

UAPB had three players to finished in the top-5, with freshman Jonathon Baumann leading the way as he continue to put his stamp in the Golden Lions program, by winning the outright title with a final score of even par (67, 72, 71-210).

Sophomore Jose Berenguel placed third with a score of +3-over par (74, 70, 69-213), followed by sophomore Jules De Reu in fourth with a score of +5-over par (67, 74, 74-215).

Sophomore Timur Alalin earned himself a top -10 overall finishing as well for UAPB with a score +7-over par (74, 75,68-217) to placed seventh. 
Junior Angel Soria placed 24th with a score of +36-over par, having his best day in round three (83, 82, 81-246).

The Golden Lions will look to carry the momentum from this weekend victory into defending their Bridgestone HBCU title, which is set to take place October 22-25 in Suwanee, Georgia.
