OXFORD, Miss. --UAPB Golden Lions got off to a slow start Tuesday, falling to the No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels by final score of 11-1.
Junior Peyton Niemann came out of the bullpen for UAPB and took the loss. Junior Jacob Ehling was a bright spot for the Golden Lions, starting the ballgame and throwing four scoreless innings, allowing four hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Offensively, the Golden Lions were led by junior Edwin DeLaCruz, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double. Junior Isaiah Cohens put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3. Senior JaKobi Jackson also helped out for UAPB, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Cohens came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as Ole Miss added eight runs to their tally on the way to an 11-1 final.

The Golden Lions will swing back into conference play this weekend in a three-game series on the road against Prairie View A&M. First pitch is set for Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m.
