PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --The Golden Lions had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the Texas Southern Tigers by final score of 13-3 Saturday in game two at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.
Senior Jacob Riordan started and took the loss on the mound for UAPB.
In the batter's box, the Golden Lions were led by senior JaKobi Jackson, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Andre Greene compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Junior Isaiah Cohens also contributed for UAPB, putting together zero hits in one trip to the plate while adding two walks and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Lions were trailing 8-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Carlos Velez came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.
The Golden Lions deficit grew to 11-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fourth inning. Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the score to 11-2 in favor of the Tigers.
UAPB kept the Tigers off the board before narrowing the gap to 11-3 in the fifth. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as Texas Southern added two runs to their tally on the way to a 13-3 final.
