#UAPBBaseball Drops Doubleheader Against Jackson St.

Pine Bluff, Arkansas- The University of Arkansas baseball team wrapped up its three-game series with Jackson St., dropping a doubleheader against the Tigers Sunday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex. 
 
Game 1: Jackson St. 12 UAPB 1
Sophomore 
Damon Elarton (0-2) started and took the loss on the mound for UAPB (3-8-1).

Sophomore Lawrence Noble led the way offensively for the Golden Lions, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple and a walk. Junior Carlos Velez compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
 
Game 2: Jackson St. 5 UAPB 4
The Golden Lions took a 4-0 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 5-4 to the Jackson State Tigers Sunday.

Junior 
Andre Greene (0-1) got the ball to start for UAPB (3-9-1) and took the loss. Junior Brandon Little was a bright spot for the Golden Lions, starting the ballgame and throwing six innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on two hits, with six walks and six strikeouts.

Freshman Carlos Velez led the way offensively for the Golden Lions, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Lawrence Noble furnished a standout performance as well, going 3-for-5 with a double. Junior 
Karsten Vasquez also helped out, going 1-for-3 for UAPB with two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Lions put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the sixth inning. UAPB's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Velez. The Golden Lions were unable to hold the lead, as Jackson State scored five times over the remaining three innings to grab the 5-4 win.

GAME NOTES
» The Golden Lions got three-hit games from both Noble and Velez.
» Little put together six innings of two-run ball for UAPB.
» The Golden Lions out-hit the Tigers at a 10-6 clip.
» Velez led the Golden Lions at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
The Golden Lions will be back in action Tuesday, March 15, against Eastern Illinois.  The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
