STARKVILLE, Miss. --The UAPB Golden Lions fall to the No. 3 Mississippi State Bulldogs 17-1 despite the efforts of freshman B Hence, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.
Freshman M Gerwitz (0-1) got the ball to start for UAPB (0-4) and took the loss.
Hence led the way offensively for the Golden Lions, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 12-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Hence put UAPB on the board with a leadoff home run off sophomore Fristoe. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as Mississippi State added five runs to their tally on the way to a 17-1 final.
GAME NOTES
» UAPB pitchers faced 44 Mississippi State hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and seven fly balls while striking out four.
