#UAPBBaseball Fall To Prairie View A&M

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team dropped game one (5-2) to Prairie View A&M in their home opener Friday evening at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.   

Prairie View (3-11, 3-4 SWAC) struck first in the top of the second before sophomore Braelin Hence responded with a line drive grounded out to the first baseman, scoring senior Nick Kreutzer, who reached earlier with a double to left field. 

The Panthers would add a run in the top of the fifth and three runs in the top of the seventh to take a (5-1) lead.  

Heading into the bottom of the ninth, UAPB (2-11, 2-2 SWAC) cut into the Panthers deficit, knocking the lead down to three (5-2) when freshman Edwin DeLaCruz singled to left field, scoring freshman Dante Leach who reach base earlier on a walk.   With runners in scoring positions, the Golden Lions had their chances, but the Panthers were able to hold on for the win.   

Delacruz led the Golden Lions at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, followed by Kreutzer, who went 1-for-4, scoring one run.  

Junior Brandon Little (1-1) took the loss on the mound going 4.0 IP with one strikeout, giving up three hits.
   
UAPB will be back in action Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. for game two at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field
