The buzz in the baseball program had a different feel in the 2020 season for UAPB. Senior Carlos Benoit, a native of Brooklyn, New York, and the rest of his teammates, had poised for a big spring season, but Covid-19 put an end to the dreams of his final collegiate season with the Golden Lions.

Benoit, who only played the first half of the 2019 season due to injury, was scheduled to make his debut in conference play of the 2020 season but was halted short. Benoit appeared in 12 games, pitched 42.2 innings with 24 strikeouts.

Benoit didn't miss a strike zone in the classroom after being named to the SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
