PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Grambling at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field. The series will conclude Sunday at 1 p.m.
Game 1 – Grambling 10, UAPB 8 (11 innings): Trailing 8-4 in the ninth, the Golden Lions rallied to force extra innings.
Sergio Esparza and
Nick Kreutzer led off the inning with singles. With one out,
Justin Robinson, who reached on a fielder's choice, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error, which allowed Esparza to score.
Ricardo Sanchez then singled to center field, scoring Robinson to cut the deficit in half. Pinch hitter Tywan Mackey Jr. then reached on an error, moving Sanchez to second.
Bryce Roesch then walked to lead the bases, before
Jarficur Parker's single down the left field line scored Sanchez and Mackey Jr. to tie the score.
GSU scored two runs in the 11
th to take the opener.
Game 2 – Grambling 19, UAPB 2 (7 innings): The Golden Lions scored both runs in the final inning on RBI single by Kreutzer and Austin Krezmenski.
