PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost game two of its three-game weekend series to Prairie View A&M 9-7 on Saturday.
Nick Kreutzer went 4-for-4 with a home run, and
Ryan Mallison homered and drove in three runs to lead the 14-hit attack.
Jarficur Parker,
Brandon Simon,
Ricardo Sanchez, and
Braelin Hence each had two hits for the Golden Lions (2-8 overall, 1-1 SWAC).
Trailing 1-0 after two innings, UAPB tied the score in the third. Braelin Hench tripled to right to lead off the inning and scored on Mallison's sacrifice fly.
The Golden Lions took the lead with a five-run sixth. Kreutzer led off with a homer to right to give UAPB a 2-1 lead.
Larry Sims then singled to left, and moved to third on a Sanchez double.
Sergio Esparza then reached on an error, allowing both runners to score. Following a walk to Hence, Parker singled to left field, scoring Esparza. Mallison's second sacrifice fly scored Hence for a 6-1 Golden Lion lead.
However, Prairie View A&M (2-8, 1-1) regained the lead with a run in the sixth, and seven runs in the seventh.
Mallison homered to lead off the ninth for the final margin.
