HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - After trailing 23-7 following one quarter of play, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions stormed back to make it a game but its comeback attempt was halted short as it suffered its first Southwestern Athletic Conference loss of the season with a 52-49 loss to Alabama A&M at Elmore Gymnasium. Once again it was
Faith Ohanta who came off the bench to lead UAPB as she produced the games only double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Aiya Hassan was the only other Lady Lion to score in double figures as she finished with 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes of action.
Although the Lady Lions (3-9, 1-1 SWAC) outrebounded its opponent 36-30, UAPB struggled on the road and produced a total of 21 turnovers and forced just six steals. Despite shooting 0-for-10 from downtown, the Lady Lions trailed by three points and still had a shot to tie the game if it got a stop on the defensive end with just under one minute to go until Lauren McKee of the Lady Bulldogs (6-8, 1-2 SWAC) buried the game-winning three-pointer.
Post player
Shawntayla Harris produced a solid output as she scored eight points, grabbed five boards, had one blocked shot and one assist on the afternoon while point guard
