Box Score Ruston, LA.- Consecutive multi-run innings thrusted Louisiana Tech past the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team, 16-1, at J.C. Love Field in Ruston, LA.
Louisiana Tech (3-0) kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the first when the Golden Lions walked Jord Washam, who stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but scored the first run of the game off a sac fly RBI from Chase Lunceford. In the following frame, the Bulldogs doubled their advantage with a double to right field scoring two more runs to put the score at 3-0.
The Golden Lions (0-3) answered in the top of the fourth by cutting a six point deficit down to five. With two outs and a 2-2 count, Juan Soriano lifted one to left field for a solo home run.
Louisiana Tech pulled away with multi-run innings in the fifth, scoring eight runs and the seventh with two more runs. In all, they plated 10 more runs to move out to an 16-1 lead.
Soriano led the way for the Golden Lions, finished the day 1-for-3 with a home run and one RBI. Sophomore Anton Luster got the start on the mound for UAPB. The right-hander went 3.0 innings allowing 6 runs on five hits.
UAPB will host the University of Central Arkansas in its home opener on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.
