Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 3) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team held on for an 8-7 win over Grambling State, here Sunday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.

The win moves the Golden Lions into first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division at 8-4 and 8-18 overall.  GSU also is 8-4 in conference play and 11-16 overall. But UAPB currently holds the tiebreaker over GSU, after winning the series 2-1.

UAPB finished the contest with 13 hits, while GSU finished with eight.

The Golden Lions had four players to finish with two hits each in
Jordan Knox,
Aderly Perez,
Dontrell Brown,
Jaqueese Moore and
Tommy Haas.

GSU had two players to finished two hits each in Larry Barraza and Angel Peguero.

Anthony Bowmaker (2-1) received the win for the Golden Lions. He gave up one hit and struck out four in two and two-third innings of work.Â
Skyler Henson picked (1) got the save as he pitched two-third innings in relief, allowing one hits and striking out.

Jordan White (1-2) received the loss for the Tigers. He pitched one and two-third innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs.

GSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in with the Tigers plating two runs in the top of the first inning.

UAPB tied the contest at 2-2 with the Golden Lions scoring one run in the bottom of the first and another one in the bottom of the second.  Perez scored on a Columbo triple in the first and Moore scoring on a Colon single in the bottom of the second inning.

The Golden Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take 5-2 lead over GSU. In the inning, both Chris Burns and Jones scored on a Moore double to left field. Then Brown would score on a Haas ground out to third base.

GSU cut UAPB's lead to 5-3 in the top of the fourth inning with Darien Brown scoring on Wesley Drain fielder's choice.

UAPB scored three more runs to take an 8-3 lead into the top of the ninth inning. The Golden Lions plated one run in their half of the fifth, sixth and eighth inning.

GSU would score four runs in the top of the ninth inning to the 8-7 finale.
