The Position
The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Athletics Marketing Department is seeking aggressive, creative, detailed and self-motivated individuals to serve as student assistants, and become members of the Golden Lions Athletics Department for the 2011-12 school year.
The Department
The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Athletics Department advertises, markets and promotes all16 intercollegiate sports programs to raise awareness, increase attendance and ticket sales to all athletic events. The sports information/marketing office coordinates the in-game production for each event and prepares promotional scripts for the game day staff. In addition to game production, they are concerned with the fan experience and game atmosphere and develop ways to improve each. The sports information/marketing department also works in conjunction with the ticket office to sell tickets and ticket packages to athletic events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the marketing and promotion
of assigned UAPB sports to increase awareness,
attendance and ticket sales
- Leading and assisting with promotional
activities, script writing and game production
- Developing and implementing
marketing plans for assigned sports
- Assisting with coordination of
various grassroots on- and off-campus marketing
efforts
- Assisting the staff with maintaining email and
text message databases and generating ticket
sales leads
- Attending monthly meetings and office hours
during the school year
- Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Must be a current UAPB student pursuing a bachelor degree and must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Candidates must be team-oriented and must be able to work approximately 10 hours a week, including assigned office hours and events. Applicant must be available on nights and weekends – including each home event for his or her assigned sports and every home football game.

As a member, one will establish a foundation for a career in Sports Information and Marketing, increase his or her knowledge of game promotions and management of different collegiate sports, and gain hands on experience in the sports marketing industry. Students will also gain valuable advertising, public relations, customer service and event marketing/management experience and how it relates to the sports industry.
