Simmons Bank Field
Simmons Bank Field, formerly known as Golden Lions Stadium officially opened on campus in 2000 is considered one of the best stadium in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Built at a cost of 14 million and home to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions football team.
Simmons Bank $2.5 million gift to the university for the football stadium renovations, which included a new state-of-the-art video scoreboard and turf field, was the largest gift ever made by a donor.
Simmons Bank Field has permanent seating capacity for 16,000 spectators with the new playing surface IRONTURF from Geo Surface that covers over 90,000 square feet. The scoreboard has enhanced the gameday atmosphere for the Golden Lion fans by displaying replays, advertisements, crowd shots and announcements.
Adjoining the football field is the J. Thomas May Field House which housing a weight room, athletic training facility, newly renovated locker rooms, administrative offices, meeting areas, and coaches offices.
