The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's Head Football Coach, Alonzo Hampton, has announced the hiring of Grant Ewell Jr as the Defensive Analyst / Special Teams Assistant coach. Ewell began his coaching career for the Golden Lions in the spring of 2024.
In 2025, Ewell spent the season as UAPB’s Assistant LB Coach under Nate Jones, he worked with Outside Linebackers. Ewell coached 2025 All-Conference & All-American linebacker Danarius Hilliard. Led SWAC in tackles per game, 2nd in SWAC in total tackles, 6th in SWAC in sacks. He also worked under Tom Manley as a Special Teams Assistant.
In 2024, Ewell spent the season as UAPB’s Assistant DB Coach under Jeff Burrow, he worked with Safeties and primarily with Nickels. He also worked under Tom Manley as a Special Teams Assistant.
Ewell graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in Sociology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Physical Education.
