Fan Day Highlights Golden Lions Last Weekend Prior to Season Opener

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- A buzz of anticipation will be in the air during the last weekend prior to the Golden Lions season opener versus UA-Monticello as the Athletics Department and UAPB Band prepare to host “Fan Day”. The event which is free to UAPB students and the general public will take place this upcoming Friday, August 28th, at 8:30 p.m.

“We're extremely excited about this upcoming season,” said UAPB Athletics Director Louis “Skip” Perkins Jr. “We encourage all Golden Lions fans and supporters to come out and show their support for the football team at Fan Day 2009.”

Headlining the event will be the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South (M4). The UAPB marching band has made appearances at the Gateway Classic, professional football games, and countless "Battle of the Bands" competitions. Most recently the band was selected to perform at the Presidential Inauguration of President Barack Obama.

Each year M4 in conjunction with the UAPB Department of Athletics hosts "Fan Day", where Golden Lions Fans and students get a brief course on how to be the ultimate Golden Lion Fan.

“We want to establish a real home field advantage at our football games,” said UAPB Band Director John Graham. “Fans that come out to the event will also get a preview of the 2009 edition of the UAPB Marching Band.”

The weekend's events will conclude on Saturday, August 29th, with Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Football Media Day beginning at 3:00 pm at Golden Lions Stadium.

“We would like to invite all members of the media to come out and join us at media day,” said UAPB Head Coach Monte Coleman. “Media members will have a chance to get a first hand look at our football team and we couldn't be more delighted to get an opportunity to visit with them going into our season.”

Select Golden Lions' football players and all coaches will be available for interviews during UAPB's media day festivities. Media personnel selected to receive season passes for the upcoming UAPB football season will also be able to pick-up their credentials at the event.
