EDINBURG, Texas- A 27 point scoring outburst by Rekevia Brown helped lead the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team to their first win of the season as they cruised to a 69-58 win over the Texas-Pan American Lady Broncs.
The 69 points scored by UAPB represents the most points the Lady Lions have tallied so far this season. After taking a 34-33 advantage into halftime Arkansas-Pine Bluff came our firing in the second half as Brown connected on 5-of-8 three point attempts and 8-of-10 free throws.
Shay Holmes added 12 points and 6 rebounds as she went 4-of-10 from the floor with one assist and one blocked shot. Overall Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot well as a team as they connected on 42 percent of their shot attempts (22-of-52) while limiting UTPA to just 30 percent for the game (19-of-63).
The victory comes at a great time for Arkansas-Pine Bluff as they will look to carry the momentum they've gained to Ames, Iowa where they will face Iowa State on Sunday.
